Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup Warm water

Coating/Topping

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon

Optional Serving Suggestions

  • Honey
  • Chocolate sauce

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  • In a separate small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon for the coating.
  • Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
  • Dip the dough squares into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
  • Cook in batches, turning frequently, until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per side).
  • Add more oil between batches if needed. While still warm, coat each piece in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Serve immediately with honey or chocolate sauce on the side.

Notes

Keep leftovers refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in a toaster oven or skillet to regain crispness.
