Instructions
In a large bowl, whisk together 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and 1 packet instant yeast until evenly combined.
In another bowl, beat 1 cup softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter, 1/2 cup milk, 2 large eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth and lump-free.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture. Stir until a rough dough forms, then turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5–7 minutes until the dough is smooth and slightly elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Once risen, roll the dough out into a rectangle roughly 12 by 16 inches. Spread the softened cream cheese evenly over the surface.
In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon salt; sprinkle this mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer.
Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Use a sharp knife or dental floss to cut into even rolls (about 12 rolls).
Place the rolls spaced on a greased baking sheet or in a baking dish, cover, and let them rise again for 30 minutes to puff up.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes, until golden on top and set in the center.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar if you like before serving. Enjoy when warm.
Notes
Store leftover rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat individual rolls in the microwave for 15–25 seconds or in a 350°F oven for 5–8 minutes covered with foil.
