Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Ramekins or Dessert Cups

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 4 medium Apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Gala), peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1/4 cup Caramel sauce, warmed, for drizzling (optional)
  • to taste Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped toasted pecans (optional garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This step is optional if you prefer to serve the apples straight from the skillet, but warming the ramekins briefly helps keep the cups cozy.
  • In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Use a nonstick or well-seasoned pan so the apples won’t stick.
  • Add the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon (if using), and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine so each apple piece gets coated.
  • Cook the apples for about 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften and the sugar melts into a glossy syrup. Taste for sweetness and texture; apples should be tender but not mushy.
  • Spoon the apple mixture into dessert cups and serve warm. Optionally, add a drizzle of warmed caramel sauce and a dollop of whipped cream or scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Sprinkle with toasted pecans for crunch.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Keep toppings (caramel, whipped cream) separate.
