Four Ingredient Nougat Bars

– 2 cups sugar
– 1/2 cup corn syrup
– 1/4 cup water
– 2 egg whites, at room temperature


1. In a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
2. Once the mixture begins to boil, stop stirring and allow it to reach 260°F (hard-ball stage) on a candy thermometer.
3. Meanwhile, beat the egg whites to stiff peaks in a large bowl.
4. When the syrup reaches the correct temperature, slowly pour it over the beaten egg whites while continuously mixing.
5. Continue beating the mixture until it thickens and becomes glossy.
6. Quickly spread the nougat into a prepared, greased pan and let it set until firm, approximately 2 hours.
7. Once firm, cut the nougat into bars and enjoy the delightful chewiness of these homemade treats.
